The journey of in vitro fertilization (IVF) is a remarkable one, with its starting point being the moment when the embryo implants into the uterine lining. For those embarking on the IVF journey, it's a time filled with anticipation and curiosity. In this article, we'll delve into the intricate process of embryo implantation in IVF-PGT, uncovering its mysteries.

Once the fertilized egg enters the uterus, the embryo undergoes a complex and fascinating development process. Before implantation, the embryo floats freely in the uterine cavity, vulnerable to rejection. After attachment and penetration into the endometrium (for those with hemochorial placentation), it establishes a close connection between the mother and the embryo.

From cleavage to the formation of the blastocyst, the embryo receives adequate nutrition and a conducive environment for growth within the uterine lining, preparing for implantation. Starting with mitotic division, the fertilized egg moves towards the uterine cavity through the fallopian tube propelled by ciliary movement, dividing into a solid cell mass of 16 cells called the morula, which further develops into a blastocyst. Early blastocysts enter the uterine cavity around day 4-5 after fertilization and continue to develop into late blastocysts. On day 6-7, late blastocysts invade the endometrium, marking the moment of "blastocyst implantation." The tight connection between the embryo and the endometrium lays the foundation for the formal onset of pregnancy.

During implantation, some physiological symptoms may accompany, such as mild abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding, signaling the embryo's efforts to implant and are part of early pregnancy. However, due to significant individual differences, the presence of these symptoms alone cannot determine successful implantation. Confirmation should rely on blood tests taken 14 days after embryo transfer.

However, implantation may also fail. If so, menstruation will occur as expected, indicating the failure of conception. At this point, it's essential to adjust both physical and mental states, preparing for the next attempt.
