What is the process and cost of egg freezing?
In today's society, the issue of infertility is gradually gaining widespread attention. According to data from the World Health Organization, about 12% to 16% of couples globally face infertility challenges. While in China alone, the number of infertility patients has reached a staggering 50 million. This is a condition that affects the mental and physical health of many couples. In the process of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), the use of ovulation-inducing drugs is one of the effective methods to address infertility.
Ovulation-inducing drugs, administered through oral, intramuscular, or subcutaneous injections, stimulate ovarian function to induce ovulation, thereby increasing the chances of pregnancy. Common ovulation-inducing drugs include Clomiphene, Letrozole, human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG), and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These drugs mainly function by regulating the axis of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, and ovaries.
Dr. Nathan Zhang, an expert in the field of assisted reproduction and the founder of IVF USA, pointed out that all drugs have certain side effects, and individuals may react differently to ovulation-inducing drugs. These drugs act on the ovaries and metabolize rapidly, with side effects disappearing shortly after discontinuation. Under the close monitoring of doctors, the drug dosage is adjusted based on the patient's response and follicle growth to ensure usage within a tolerable range, causing no harm to women's bodies and ovaries.
Currently, there is no evidence in clinical practice that ovulation-inducing drugs have long-term adverse effects on women's health. Dr. Nathan Zhang explained that with technological advancements, the types and ratios of drugs used in the ovulation induction process are constantly changing, and dosages and usage frequencies are decreasing. Clinical practice has not found any association between ovulation-inducing drugs and issues such as premature aging, tumors, or aging.
Regarding whether retrieving eggs in advance will affect women's future ovulation and ovarian condition, Dr. Nathan Zhang stated that ovulation-inducing drugs can stimulate all the follicles produced in the ovaries in a given month to develop into eggs and be retrieved. However, the surplus eggs retrieved have no connection to the subsequent menstrual cycle. Women produce multiple follicles every month, but only one matures and develops into an egg released during ovulation, while the others naturally disappear. Clinical practice has not found that ovulation-inducing drugs cause aging in women.
In the short term, ovulation-inducing drugs may have an impact on uterine fibroids, but normalcy is restored after discontinuation. Uterine fibroids are related to the physiological cycle and internal estrogen levels. Hormonal changes during the ovulation induction cycle can have a short-term impact. However, in the long run, ovulation-inducing drugs do not have a sustained impact on uterine fibroids.
IVF USA, as an institution providing comprehensive IVF services between China and the United States, adheres to a professional and considerate service philosophy. Dr. Nathan Zhang emphasized that during the use of medications, strict monitoring by doctors is necessary, and the reasonable use of ovulation-inducing drugs does not cause long-term harm to women's bodies and ovaries. The triplets of Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing and the twin sons of football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo sought assistance from top IVF institutions with which IVF USA has had long-term cooperation.
