Blastocysts are graded based on three key indicators: the degree of expansion of the blastocoel, the quality of the inner cell mass (which develops into the fetus), and the trophectoderm cells (which form the placenta). They are rated using a combination of numbers and letters. For example, an "AA" grade indicates that both the inner cell mass and trophectoderm cells are of top quality. Generally speaking, AA-grade blastocysts are of higher quality and have a relatively higher chance of success after implantation. However, even high-grade blastocysts do not guarantee a 100% success rate, as embryo development and implantation are also influenced by various factors, such as the uterine environment and the patients overall health. 

 

Clinical data show that blastocysts formed on the fifth day are typically of higher quality than those formed on the sixth day. However, this does not mean that sixth-day blastocysts have no potential. Sixth-day blastocysts may simply need more time to mature and can also yield healthy embryos through rigorous screening. Therefore, selecting blastocysts should be tailored to the couple's reproductive conditions and actual situation, with decisions made based on a comprehensive evaluation by a professional reproductive medical team.
